About the Role

We are looking for a world-class engineer to join our Core Infrastructure team. Our mission is to drive stability, scalability and efficiency for the Houzz platform with our growing number of users.

By joining the team, you will own and build the critical infrastructure components that all other teams at Houzz build upon, driving reliability, scalability, and high availability across our cloud services, datastores, and monitoring.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and scale cloud native infrastructure on top of AWS with container and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Maintain and enhance database ecosystems such as MySQL and Redis Cluster to maintain 99.99% availability.

• Implement tooling and automation to streamline infrastructure changes to production with GitOps workflow/Infrastructure as code.

• Improve monitoring and alerting of underlying infrastructure of the Houzz platform.

• Triage urgent site availability and security issues against potential threats.

At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have

• Expertise with the cloud provider AWS and their service offerings: Aurora, RDS, S3, ALB, especially in the compute and networking spaces.

• Proficiency in common programming/ scripting languages: Python, Shell, PHP, Java, Go, etc.

• Good understanding of Linux and experience with modern infrastructure technologies: Kubernetes, MySQL, Redis, Prometheus, Ansible, Terraform, etc.

• 5+ years experience in an infrastructure engineering / SRE role

Ideally, You'll Also Have

• Extensive knowledge and experience with large-scale, distributed systems.

• AWS/Kubernetes certifications.

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.
